F.A.Q. - Cat-Proofer Existing Fence Converter Kit

Q – How do I install the Cat-Proofer extender brackets onto my wood fence?

A – Wood Screws. The mounting brackets have four holes to run screw through. Bring a bracket with you to purchase the screws. You may need to purchase washers if the heads of the screws you pick are the same size or smaller than the holes in the bracket.

Q - What height fences will this system work on?

A - The Cat-Proofer will work on most fences that are 5’ high or taller.

Q – What type of fences will the Cat-Proofer system work on?

A - The idea behind this system is to cat-proof the top portion of an existing barrier that cats connot get out of without scaling. If your cat does not have to climb your fence to get out of the fenced area, it is likely that adding the conversion kit will not have much of an effect. If your cat can get through your fence we recommend that you use our Houdini-Proof free-standing system to car-proof an area within your existing fence.

Q – How do I secure the mesh material to the surface of my wood fence?

A – The easiest way is staples applied with a staple gun. Use staples that are a minimum of 3/8” long. You may also use the product designed to secure the mesh material to a PVC /Vinyl fence.

Q – How do I secure the mesh material to my chain link fence?

A – The easiest way is zip ties. Appropriate zip ties will be included with any purchase of U-bolts.

Q – How do I install the Cat-Proofer extender brackets onto vinyl / PVC fence?

A – A couple of options are available to secure the brackets to a PVC fence. You may use wood screws like you would with a wood fence but a significant strain on the bracket may cause the screws to pull out of the post or otherwise damage the fence. A better option is to secure the bracket to the post with nuts and bolts. Make sure that you can remove the post caps. Use the bracket to mark holes and drill through the face of the post. With the bracket in place, push the bolts through the holes. Secure the bolts with washers and nuts on the inside face of the post. Wing nuts with intergrated washers may be your best choice for ease of installation.
You may also drill through the post to the other side and secure with nuts and bolts. If you choose this option, be sure not to over-tighten the bolts as you may distort or crack the post.

Q – How do I secure the mesh material to my PVC fence?

A – Purr…fect Fence offers a special product for this purpose.

Q – How do I install the Cat-Proofer extender bracket to a wall?

A – The answer to this question depends on the type of wall you have. Bring a bracket to a hardware store you trust and describe the construction of your wall to a knowledgable worker.

Q – How do I secure the mesh material to my wall?

A – Purchase the adaption product for PVC / Vinyl fencing. Bring the product to a hardware store you trust and describe the construction of your wall to a knowledgable worker.

Q – Will the Cat-Proofer system keep cats from getting into the cat-proofed area?

A – The system is not designed to be a deterent to cats coming into a fenced area. If the fence you are adding the Cat-Proofer system to is at least 3’ from your property boundary, you may add a second Cat-Proofer system to the outside of your fence. If your fence is within 3’ of your property boundary, we recommend that you utilize our Houdini-Proof free-standing system within your fenced area . The free-standing system is difficult for cats to climb. If, however, you find you have a problem with cats coming into your area fence with the free-standing system, you can add a second set of brackets facing outward. Testimonials

Loraine, Gloucestershire

We recently ordered 5 Purrect Fence kits and are delighted.

The peace of mind is worth everything – we have lost 2 cats on our supposedly quiet lane, but the lane gets short cut traffic that thinks it’s fine to speed as there is very rarely traffic coming the other way. Luckily we have a large garden with lots of trees and have enclosed the whole lot with your fence. Our 3 new kittens don’t know the difference of being ‘safe’ but our 5 yr old is a bit put at not being able to wander at will but remains safe and happy getting used to it. At the time your fence arrived we had a landscape gardener here so he erected the fence for us. After the first stretch of fence, and after watching your DVD his team were dab hands at it. I am so enthusiastic about your product.
Many thanks.
